Project Brief
Build a simple to use shelf-edge pricing system. The shelf-edge pricing system must be capable of retrieving stock item details such as cost, description, inventory levels and related stock items if the item is on sale, etc. The software must be integrated directly into the Microsoft Retail Management System (RMS) Database and provide “real-time” stock positions.
Solution Implemented
We approached this project with robustness and ease of use being the two primary goals. The Motorola MC 3090 barcode scanners were selected due to it having a rugged commercial design, wireless capability, Windows CE operating system and being compatible with the .Net compact framework.
The shelf-edge pricing system fully integrated with the existing RMS system using a wireless connection with a local secure web service for the retrieval of the stock item data. The user interface provided a clean tabbed layout for displaying the stock item details. Visual and audible alerts were used to inform the user of critical events.
What The Client Thought
We commissioned Antelle to replace and improve the wireless data capture system that we already had in place. Our existing equipment was proving expensive to maintain and improve due to it being developed by a U.K. software house.
The hardware and software solution that Antelle delivered more than fulfilled our expectations and was delivered on time and on budget.
